What is it and why is it important?
-
Best Linear Unbiased Prediction or BLUP is part of training your horse to give the best offspring possible
-
To get the best offspring both the mare and the stallion need to have 100 BLUP
What are the qualifications to get 100 BLUP?
-
Top 3 skills need to be bolded in training, rides, and competitions
-
The horse needs 20 first place wins in any competitions
-
The horse must be 10 years of age

How to BLUP
The BLUPing schedule varies depending on the breed. There is no right or wrong way to BLUP as long as when the horse is 10 it has 20 wins and the top 3 skills complete
Starter Schedule
*adjust this to your preferred breed and perfect it as you go along
-
6 months - register in an EC that benefits your horses top 3 skills (forest EC or mountain EC) it is preferred that the EC is a 3-star box with flax bedding, a shower, and a water trough
-
8 months -1 year 4 months - complete foal games if you want. This step is not necessary to BLUPing
-
1 year 6 months - begin training with rides (mountain or forest) start with the same one as the EC you are registered in (boarded in forest EC = start with forest rides)
-
2 years - keep doing rides until you can't gain any from the same one as your EC
-
3 years - 1 of the rides should be completed to where there is no skill gain, now you can register in comps for skills and wins, (choose the best specialty for your horses breed) you can now begin trying for wins in competitions or try for wins later, you will get wins easiest from a competition that's first skill is one of your horses lowest skills (example: a thoroughbreds lowest skill is trot so the best way to get wins would be to register in trot or western pleasure comps) (This is not the only way to win comps) If you want you can get wins and top 3 skills at the same time by registering your horse in a competition that has all 3 of your horses top skills, if you decide to get wins later start registering your horse in a competition that has all 3 of your horses top skills
-
3 years 6-8 months - if you decided to gain top 3 skills from comps your horses best comp should now not be able to gain more skills, start training in the other ride to gain skill points if one of your horses top 3 skills can be gained from this (curlys only need mountain rides) if none of your horses top 3 skills can be gained by rides start training your horse in its top 3 skills until they are complete, (for those who decided to wait on comps for wins start entering competitions that's first skill is one of your horses lowest skills until you get 20 wins, this may take time if you are not using fillers or have help)
-
5 years 0-2 months - all skills from rides (forest and mountain) should be complete, you can now train your horse in its top 3 skills until they are complete
-
8 years 8 months - 9 years - Your horses top 3 skills should be bolded and no skill gain should be possible in the top 3 skills for your horse in rides, training, or comps, you can now try for 20 wins until age 10 if you still need them
-
10 years- you horse should be 100 BLUP with top 3 skills bolded and 20 wins
This is not the only way to BLUP and many people do it differently but as long as your horse is 10 years with top 3 skills complete and 20 wins your horse will be 100 BLUP
